Ivory’s Rock welcomes people in the region to enjoy the top class facility.
The first Ivory’s Rock Christmas Party was held in 2016 for community families with a giant Christmas Tree, carols, rides, food stalls, fun races, fireworks and Santa. The local community are very involved in running this ongoing event, held again in 2017, and look forward to it in 2018.
In July 2017 and May 2018, in collaboration with MDA and Access Community Services, Ivory’ Rock hosted community days for new Australians from countries such as Syria, Sudan, Congo, Burma, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia. The program of activities included “welcome to country” and performances by the Yugerra people from Ipswich, wild life demonstrations, a cultural program of music and entertainment, a sports zone and kid’s activities. The community event in 2018 was supported by grants from the Queensland government and Ipswich City Council. Visitors enjoyed a day in the country and learning about Australian culture. They would like to see them happen more often.
